The Municipality of Pudtol has undergone the final stages of the assessment and validation for the most coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the highest accolade given to a Local Government Unit that embodies excellence in public service and local governance.
Yesterday, September 14, 2022, a National Validation Team headed by their Team Leader Ms. Renalyn D. Iglesias, assessed the municipal government’s performance based on the ten governance areas set under Republic Act 11292 or the SGLG Act of 2019.
Engr. Mayer Max G. Adong, Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Apayao assisting the National Validation Team, narrated the brief history of how the SGLG is conceptualized. He applauded the efforts exerted by the Municipal Government in reaching the last phase of the SGLG Validation in complying with all the requirements and in institutionalizing all its best practices in local governance which it established years ago.
Listed among the few municipalities in the country which qualified for the SGLG national assessment, PD Adong also said, “If you reached the national validation, it speaks a lot of the works you do and that you are doing great!It implies the holistic effort of everybody – from the Elected Officials, Department Heads, Barangays and to all personnel that comprises the MLGU. It means, you are one in ensuring that you as an organization has this standard of excellence in government service.”
The ten governance areas in which every LGU is assessed for the Seal are the following:
- Good Fiscal or Financial Administration or Financial Sustainability
- Disaster Preparedness
- Health Compliance and Responsiveness
- Social Protection and Sensitivity Program
- Programs for Sustainable Education
- Business Friendliness and Competitiveness
- Safety, Peace and Order
- Tourism Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts
- Environmental Management
- Youth Development
An award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program for all LGUs, the SGLG ensures the continuing commitment of LGUs to continually progress and improve their performance in terms of public service delivery.
